Elizabeth Carrizo 1976 - 2003

Provo, Utah 10 Junio 1976

ELIZABETH CARRIZO (1959-2012): MY BRIDE / MI NOVIA

MY "FAIRY TALE", I NEVER TOLD ABOUT MY FIANCEE AND I FROM 2003-2012.
MI "CUENTO DE HADAS", QUE NUNCA ANTES DIJE SOBRE MI PROMETIDA Y YO DEL
2003-2012

Elizabeth Susana Carrizo
BORN: February 3, 1959 (one the day before my birthday) in Montevideo, Uruguay
DIED: September 2, 2012 in Montevideo, Uruguay at age 53.

DATE WE MET AS TEEN AGERS: January 1976 in Montevideo in my third month as mIssionary when I was knocking doors with my companion (Elder
Duane Bingham) in a neighborhood of Montevideo, she was the only person at 16 years of age (and I was 19 years old) who was at her home when all her sibblings and parents were at school and at work. She had happened to forget her school staff and went home to pick it up when I knocked her door and introduced ourselves as Missionaries. She was shocked to see two persons -missionaries- wearing in white shirts and ties* (*on this, there is a strong spiritual and heavenly experience she got that I will tell it later) and she was very receptive, so we scheduled a time to visit her parents.
Few months later they all joined the LDS (Mormon) Church except her, even her nephew -her oldest sister's son- became a missionary and served in Provo, Utah in 2001, in the same city where I lived, and I didn't know that one of my missionary fruits had been here near to my house. In 2003 I told her maybe it was because of her youth rebellious personality, and she laughed.

DATE WE MET AGAIN 27 YEARS LATER: We met again in 2003 when she was 44 and I was 47 years of age. She was married before with two children and years later she got divorced. I was also divorced, when in 2002-03 I felt too lonely and a thought came to my mind,"maybe I should try to meet someone from my Mission field in Uruguay", so I started to call first to all my proselyting Uruguayan families I taught and baptized them, this was happening after 26-27 years of absence and with no contacts or news from all of them and since I finished my mission in Uruguay, so the joy was so great, that we all cried. Then in my last attempts of phone calls I decided to call to the Carrizo family, I especially called to the parents' home because that was the only number I had. I had no clue of Elizabeth's divorce, and that she lived in another neighborhood but by chance she was visiting at that moment of my phone call to her old mother, so after a long conversation with her mother and the interrogation she did of my life, and learning that I was also divorced, the mother put me on the phone to speak to her daughter Elizabeth, the rebellious one -whom I used to call her, because thanks to her the Gospel entered to her family's life in 1976 -27 years before that event.

DATE WE BECAME ENGAGED: We became engaged to be married on June 19, 2003 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

DATE SHE JOINED THE MORMON FAITH: She got baptized in the LDS Church on June 21, 2003 in Montevideo, Uruguay. One day she told me she wanted to be baptized and join the church so I made the preparation by calling to the Mission Home President and asked if they could assigned missionaries to teach her the Gospel cause she is ready to be baptized and is being already reading the Book of Mormon a lot, and asked me if I could be the one to baptize her, so I went to Uruguay for two reasons, to propose her, and to baptize her.

DATE SHE ENTERED AN L.D.S. TEMPLE FOR THE FIRST TIME: She got her Temple endownments on June 2004 after one year of membership worthiness as required by the Church, she entered in the Montevideo Temple. Her conversion was so strong that she was so strong in the church and active in all her church callings since she got baptized.

DATE SHE DIED: She died of cancer after many years of battle in 2012.

THIS WAS MY FAIRY TALE, a "love story" ever, and the only one.

I think her mission on earth was not over yet until she met me because she was in debt with the Lord to accept the gospel and join her family in this happiness because her dad had recently passed away -in 2002 just one year before I met her again. And she need it to get all the blessings of the Temple and of eternity before she died.
I think she is in Heaven doing a lot of Missionary work and preparing the way for others to receive the fullness of Happiness as well.

1977 URUGUAY MISSION. TEACHING ONE OF THE SURVIVALS OF THE ANDES

I MET ONE OF THE ANDES SURVIVALS OF 1972 IN MONTEVIDEO IN 1977 WHEN I WAS A MISSIONARY

YO CONOCI A UNO DE LOS SOBREVIVIENTES DE LOS ANDES D
E 1972 EN MONTEVIDEO EN 1977 CUANDO FUI MISIONERO

Provo, Utah, USA. August 5, 2015

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH ELDER BRUCE R. MCCONKIE:

" On may 25, 1983 I would receive the news of my appointment as Church Educational System Regional Coordinator by the church C.E.S. Department in Salt Lake City. This news was before my interview (and our interview, with Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, since the church asked us to attend this interview as a couple and only with breast feeding babies, in this case we took our baby Freddy Enrique II who was almost 3 weeks old, on July 19, 1983, but we didn't take our oldest daughter Sarah). We were advised that our interview would be with our beloved Apostle -my favorite one- Elder Bruce R. McConkie, who was a member of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles of the Church, and who would die a little bit later, on April 19, 1985. This interview took place in the offices building of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve, on July 19 1983, and who at the end of the interview we had the joy to greet to our beloved Prophet, President Spencer W. Kimball who also passed away at the end of 1985.

After this, we were waiting to hear the country that I would be assigned by the church.

-------------------

Uceda and I stood as roommates for one week in different cities were: La Paz; Sucre and Santa Cruz where the Santa Cruz Region for Seminary and Institutes was going to be open for the Saints. As we got to the Hotel to rest and sleep everyday I learned what a special man of God was Elder Uceda, he didn't even take his tie off until it was bed time and after a long day of work. He introduced me to the Saints in La Paz; Sucre and Santa Cruz".

HERE I AM WHEN I WORKED FOR THE C.E.S. "Church Educational System" as
Regional Coordinator and waiting for an international assignment to serve.

About our Assignment to Ecuador, our Religious Visas as a family to enter to Ecuador were denied to the Church Visa Department in the last minute, while we were waiting for our visas in Salt Lake City, Utah for over three long months. During that time I was being trained and worked in the C.E.S. Department of the Church Headquarters. In the meantime our second child was born on June 30th, Freddy Jr. So Elder Bryan Weston, the Church Educational System World Zone Director who hired me and trained me in the Church Headquaters decided to send us to Peru at the end of August 1983 to wait there for a new international assignment either to Colombia or Venezuela, until that assignment took place, we arrived in Lima. In Lima I got acquainted with Elder Uceda and he told me he had plans to open a Region for the CES program in Bolivia and if I would like that before the Venezuela - Colombia Regions, so we accepted. This was while we waited for our entire household furnitures and appliances of washer and driers among the many living room, kitchen, bedrooms furnitures to arrive in Callao, Peru from Guayaquil because the Church in Salt Lake City shipped them to Guayaquil as our last destination thinking that our Visas were going to be approved, we had to wait a long two months for them to arrive in Guayaquil and then to be transferred to Callao-Peru. In the meantime I was assigned to work in the Trujillo Region for two months with President Teofilo Puertas who was the main Regional Coordinator of the Trujillo Region and me as an international Regional Coordinator.
